2012 273
Greetings,
I am new to the forum because in the process of purchasing a 2012 273. It’s a very well kept boat with 250 hours on it. We are going to have it surveyed and the motor compression checked. It’s been unused for a couple years other than being serviced for this summer season. Looks new inside and out. My plan is to change oil, filter and coolant however I want to get opinion on having out drive serviced or checked as well as anything else that could be recommended. I do plan on installing new zincs on out drive and will also fit new ones to trim tabs. Love reading this blog!

Hey Xman welcome aboard. If you are going to have them service the boat I’d go ahead and have them change the impeller while they are in there as well.
Besides that I think you are right on track with the maintenance I would do as well. About what I did when I purchased my 262 back in January.
Would love to see some pics when you get her!

Welcome Xman! Glad to have you here.
Unless you have a closed cooling system you won't have coolant. As tgrace said you are on track. Definitely change the impeller and have the outdrive serviced, and add in a new fuel filter as well. Then with everything done you'll know where you are with all the maintenance. Change your oil and filters every fall and your impeller every other year.
I always like to change my outdrive oil every fall too just to make sure a seal hasn't lost its integrity and taken on water.
We need pics of your boat! It's best if you can go into new members and introduce yourself, tell us where you boat and show us pictures. You'll probably want to go back to that thread at some point because an intro here will get lost and buried.

I had the dealer pull the service records. Anything not done, or that was not recorded, I had completed. Motor Alignment, Gimble bearing, service outdrive, replaced bellows, engine tuneup, etc.

Greetings all,
We closed the deal on the 2012 Cobalt 273 yesterday and I thank everyone for their advice. As part of the deal I made an addendum asking them to perform the services that were recommended. Oil and filter change, fuel filter, motor alignment, gimble bearing, service outdrive, replaced bellows, engine tune-up, etc. The broker greed and since they are a yacht dealer and maintain an in-house mechanic they checked, serviced or replaced everything I requested with exception of the impeller where on the test run the temp maintained a constant 165 deg. Impeller works fine but will replace in winter. A proper introduction on the new member page is following but here are a couple photos (dealer) of the Cobalt. Better ones to follow!

Hey, thanks for the pics and welcome to the CobaltChat forum xman214. You're going to make some great memories on that baby. What the others said above is great advice. Check and see how old your batteries are too. That's a show stopper if they die on you in the water. 4-5 years on them can be borrowed time.
Once again, welcome aboard mate!

Welcome from Lake Tahoe. I bought a 2013 273 about 6 weeks ago and I absolutely love it! Where are you located? What engine? More pics please!Xman214 wrote: Tue Aug 07, 2018 9:11 am Greetings all,

I would like to know more about that SS arch, because I might be interested in looking into adding one to my boat.
