Off Season Battery Storage

Jeff, the offer we put in on our boat stipulated an agm battery. I charge it about once a month. On my other boats, before I had a garage to keep it in, I would keep it in the basement & charge it. As A7 said, get a smart multi-stage charger, one that will charge an agm as they do require a different voltage I think. I have 4 6 volt batteries in my camper & leave it plugged up 24/7 year round. The charger knows when they are charged & then goes to a float mode. You are right about getting agm’s as they require no maintenance and give off virtually no hydrogen when they are charging

When I said keep it in the basement, I meant the battery, not the boat!

I pull mine out and keep battery tenders on them while stored in the basement. Probably overkill.

I have room for our Sea Doo my heated warehouse so I just attach a trickle charger and leave the battery in. I do the same with our electric start snowblower over the summer.

If I find room for the boat in the warehouse, I'll just attach a trickle charger, but I'll need help determining what position to leave the new dual battery switch in, to ensure both batteries get maintained throughout the winter.
