Those things look like bear traps, t550....or something you might see at a renaissance festival.

Should have thrown it at the guy who drifted into us. We had to push him off of us, then his anchor that he had been dragging across the cove got tangled in my anchor line. Real nice. He would have looked good with this thing around his neck.

Nah there was no contact, we saw him coming long before he got to us. Nice enough guy too, just lack of common sense and common courtesy.

I often joke that customer service is dead - glad to hear they took care of you t555500000.

Has anyone tried their anchor buddy? We tie up in coves that are mostly shale bottom, seems like this could help keep the anchor from bouncing?

So let me see if I have this right, one side of the anchor buddy gets hooked to the anchor the other gets hooked to a loop in the main anchor line leaving some slack for the anchor buddy to stretch and absorb bounce?

OK I want to support Slide Anchor really do, but $28 to ship a $28 dollar product? I'll buy the same thing on amazon and enjoy my prime shipping.

My buddy used it to pull the boat close to shore to get out then ir would pull it back into the lake. Then when he wanted togo he would pull the boat back to him.

You're still indirectly supporting them by buying from Amazon. Free market forces rule!!

resurrecting this post....

For my 232, what size slide anchor do you recommend? Looks like I am within the small size criteria, but would like some feedback/advice.

If they still made the medium I would be all over it.

I actually just ordered the small box anchor and shore spike for my 242 off amazon, hopefully these will work ok.

We only boat in freshwater lakes. I think if you use more rope it would likely grab better, but hopefully someone else with experience can chime in.

I bought a small box anchor from Amazon for our new to us 232 for my wife as a Christmas present last year (she is hard to buy for). I had second thoughts about the size, so when we met our boat in Lake Havasu we stopped by Slide Anchor's store to check with them and buy some other stuff. They are great there, so I explained the situation, they went outside and looked at the boat and initially said the small was fine, until we told them we also go to Lake Powell where the wind can really blow hard (usually it seems late at night) and he said we need a large. They let me exchange the small for a large, just paying the difference. We chatted with the owner for a while and he is very nice. We discussed Amazon, his dislike for West Marine, China manufacturing.... It is an interesting business they have.

We used the large box anchor a couple of weekends ago. Worked fine, but there was only a slight breeze. It is heavy to pull up and had a fair amount of mud. It is also a bit awkward to handle. I need to remember to put some lube on the 'lock' bar as mine needed to be hammered to get it to move into the locking position.

For future no-wind areas and if we are staying on the boat, I do think I will try out one of my older traditional smaller and lighter Danforth anchors if nothing else to save my back hauling in the large box anchor.

I've heard the complaints about the large size anchor time and time again from all. I may try the small one, and see how it does. A slide anchor is more like a backup for my situation regardless.

I saw this thread headline and thought Sliderulracer has now gotten into the anchor business! 😁 Before long he'll be making enough on his sideline business to hire Bum as a consultant!
