The arms are bolted to the transom, to the underside of the standard platform and the underside of the extended platform. Attached is a screen shot of a walk around video or my 273 that kind of shows the setup.

Hey thanks for posting this CaptainTom. That’s similar to how the extended swim platform is strengthened on the 260 series as well.

It looks like you have the red white and blue color scheme by the look of that picture. One of my faves. 👍🏻
Any other shots of your boat? Would love to see that in a new thread.

Thanks for coming out of the wood-work too.
I’ll officially say welcome aboard mate. :D

Welcome from Oklahoma to both of you!

So godbold I'm thinking it can be done but it will be pretty pricey. Like BB said you can call Cobalt with your hull number and they'll tell you if you can or not. Keep in mind you only have another year to have a factory deck added on. After 7 years you can't buy parts from Cobalt unless they have existing inventory at a dealer. That's one of the wonky rules that we all hate, but we still manage to get around. Many of us here have older Cobalts.

You can add an aftermarket swimdeck for under a grand after installation, but for the foldown step you have to get it from your dealer and I bet the deck and installation is pushing three to $3500, maybe more. They'll rape you putting it on, if they'll do it at all.

From the factory they run braces, supports and backing plates inside the transom out to the swim deck. The braces and supports are bolted underneath your upper deck and inside your transom. I don't know what year they added the electric option to the fold down step but it's likely yours will have to be manual. If they added that option prior to 2012 the wiring will be there, you'll just have to figure out which plug it is.

Again, welcome to the tribe and let us know how it turns out!

CaptainTom how about you start an intro thread and show us your boat? For both of y'all, we're into pictures big-time. Pictures and hi-jacks. Theres lots and lots of info here, but if you dont find what you're looking for just ask! We'll either answer your question or hi-jack your thread and steer everything off into another direction if we don't know...

Thanks all for your responses. I will reach out to the factory and let you all know what they say.
