Surfed preferred one with less hours. (the one in WI had over 600 as well).

If you go 282, I highly recommend twins. You will be disappointed with a single in that application.

Really? Is the hull that much bigger than an R7? How many 282s have twins?

going to be really hard to find a 262 with low hours for 30k. Now that we have a budget I was just pointing out what was in his price range.

Yup....totally different hull. 2,000 pounds heavier. 260 series is 4700 pounds..280 series jumps to 6700 (7700 w/ twins).

28' is normally the cutoff min for when you want twins in a boat. (if not just for the maneuvering alone around docks..and with the wind blowin' you) :?

Damn the R7 weighs in at just 5600 lbs. Now I want to see a 282 up close to see where the extra 1100 lbs. are coming from.

yep the 9ft beam to make room for the twins adds a lot of weight

Builders normally go up from the legal trailer towing road width max of 8'6" to the larger 9' beam starting at the 27 to 28 foot length mark since it becomes a lot of weight for a single to push around. It's rare to see the 8'6" beam with twins.

I remember the 27' fountain fever with a beam at 8'4" --but Reggie squeezed a couple of twins into a few of those. It's also a unicorn. Most of them had singles.

As a general rule, once you hit the 28 foot length, get twins or you will be disappointed in the performance.

Finally, you are boating on LOTO, where are you at on the lake? Do you have experience with this lake? It can get quite rough for even a 262....like monster plowing cruiser wakes. Water can come over the bow VERY easily. If you get stuck between two of them with crossing waves it can get very dangerous.
I also love to boat shop. I’ve literally shopped boats every day since 2006.
Maybe you should prop shop more :-)
You're absolutely right. I've gotta go SS.

To keep this thread on track...just to reiterate, you are searching for a 2000-2007 262.

....and it sounds like the following options are what you desire:

- Volvo or Merc big block
- Counter rotating props on outdrive
- Switchable Captains Call exhaust
- 2nd Extended swim platform
- Filler cushions (rear)
- Darker color hull
- Less than 500 hours
- Trailer

Prefer local MO boat.
Is this correct? Anything else?

.

With an 8'6" beam and a 5,600 pound dry weight, the 380 HP version of the R7 hops up on plane in 4 seconds and has a top end of 50 mph*.

Your 430 horse R7 will plane in the 3+ second mark and be good for around 55mph. That's certainly no dog (even with your 6.0L vs 6.2 ;) )!
