Phender Pro Add to Boat

Post by ajcampen »

I am thinking of adding 6 phender pro to my boat and using the retrofit method to install. Has anyone done this? How worried should I be of hitting wiring when drilling?

See video on retrofit install

I'll watch the vid in a bit. Of course always look for that while drilling. They run the harness conduit at the bow rail. If you look in the engine compartment or a bow compartment you should be able to see it. I was thinking of adding them toi. But I keep thinking it's not that big of a deal to tie it to the midcleat or the tower. So I just haven't done it.

I really want it for the mid cleat. I find my boat wants to hit near where the window comes back, not by the cleat. that is really the main place I want to add. I am going to buy directly from phender pro mfg I believe. 1/2 inch receivers x6 + 3 x pin clips + install retrofit tool + shipping = $400. so not the cheapest thing. I might just do two to start and not put in bow and stern.

I have the 2 standard clips from the factory. It might be hmthe location of the clips but I don’t find them that useful. Maybe if you dock at the exact same dock every time they are ok. Otherwise adjusting the height isn’t easy or quick. The boat came with them but I don’t know if I’d order them again

I like them! But as BB stated.. borrow a bore scope and peek in there first!

Like everyone I use the same cleat for line and fender. ( I use smalllll fender lines)

Mine come in handy because most of the docks on my lake are floating due to the variance in the water level. Therefore I never have to adjust the length of the rope on the fenders. I do find that on short docks I have to back in in order for them work effectively.
