The only knock on sea grass is some of the members have stated it gets hot, really hot on the feet, like you have to pour water on it to be able to stand with bare feet.Bobo87 wrote: Sun Feb 18, 2018 7:10 pm Tabasco is a gorgeous dog! I would like to see some pictures of the sea grass if anybody has some. Got my samples of the plasdek and I am leaning towards the SeaDek. It is appears to install easier and I feel comfortable doing it my self since I am just looking at the swim deck for now. But I’d love to chunk the carpet. I usually just go with the hard floor but the Sea grass has intrigued me. Especially if you can get snaps for it.
That's something to consider in our part of the country.

Good point Driller. There is a lot to consider when it comes to form, fit, and function along with price.

We leave our Bimini up all year. The seagrass does get hot except in the bow when we sit idle on a sunny day and there is nothing to block the rays. We just throw a towel on it and it’s fine.Bobo87 wrote: Mon Feb 19, 2018 6:21 pm Good point Driller. There is a lot to consider when it comes to form, fit, and function along with price.

Re: No Slip Deck - Dog proof?
Sounds like a reasonable work around. I am guessing the obvious that the darker colors would retain more heat. I am still interested in others opinions.

Re: No Slip Deck - Dog proof?
Understood, but we pushed 107 degrees last summer with bright sunshine. I keep my Bimini up also as you can imagine and the carpet is always fine to walk on even in the bow. I have nothing against seagrass, I was just giving Bobo food for thought. I just think I remember some comments from other members. Maybe I'm wrong.2018R7Surf wrote: Mon Feb 19, 2018 7:21 pmWe leave our Bimini up all year. It will get very hot at 107 degrees. Burn you feet hot.Driller wrote: Tue Feb 20, 2018 6:00 pmUnderstood, but we pushed 107 degrees last summer with bright sunshine. Re: No Slip Deck - Dog proof?
This is great information. We were going to order the swim platform soft trac mat, but after talking to dealer, he advised against it for our R5. We have two labradoodles, that love to jump off the deck and swim. Curious, how much is it going to cost you to install on your swim deck?2018R7Surf wrote: Tue Feb 13, 2018 4:42 am HI everyone. Wanted to share a couple of items I have come across while outfitting a new Cobalt in the off season. I have recently purchased my 3rd Cobalt. We boat with our a dog Tabasco - he goes every time. Tabasco is a 50 lb Vizsla. I had a 210 in 2014 and the swim platform had a very hard, non slip deck material that was truly dog proof. Several years of boating with out any dog nail damage. Our Vizsla likes to fish...no really. He sits on the back deck when not swimming and follows fish in the water. He jumps in after them when they get close enough. He hunts quite a bit during winter and fish have become his entertainment during summer months. We purchased a 2016 R5 and the swim platform had a new product on it called SeaDeck. Our dealer told us it was a new product and thought it would hold up better than what we had on the 2014 210. SeaDeck is a nice product. Cool and soft to the touch- very soft. Tabasco damaged this product in just 10 boating trips. Small nail holes were all over the decking. We replaced it under warranty mid season thinking we got a bad piece of decking only to have this happen again. If you go to the SeaDeck FAQ on the web, they no longer warranty the product against dog nail damage.
I have been researching and found what I think is a dog friendly product called plasdeck.com. They will be putting this on our new boat and I will report back but I can tell you I tested it and I think the problem is eliminated. It is a much harder surface and seems to be significantly more resilient. My guess is that it may be more slippery than the SeaDeck. However, I poked it with a dart (from a dart board) and it actually fills the whole after 30-40 minutes. Simulating normal Nail pressure from tabasco (he was very happy about this) did no damage to the samples. Anyhow, if you don't have a dog, or your dog is laid back, I would recommend SeaDeck. If you are getting dents in your deck, check out plasdeck.com. JK

Re: No Slip Deck - Dog proof?
Is your dealer an authorized installer, or did you visit an authorized installer to get a template made for the swim platform? I looked on plasdeck's website and they don't have a template for a swim platform for a R5 or R7. Not sure if the platforms are same size or different?2018R7Surf wrote: Wed Feb 21, 2018 7:17 pm I don’t know yet. Re: No Slip Deck - Dog proof?
Hey, I am sorry that I haven’t got back to the forum earlier on this. Pladeck proved difficult to work with. They wanted us to measure. We went a different direction. We bought a 10mm product from seadeck that is a different style. It is called embossed not the normal brushed product. I tested it and it seems to be even more resilient than the plasdeck.Cycleman6 wrote: Tue Mar 13, 2018 3:47 pmIs your dealer an authorized installer, or did you visit an authorized installer to get a template made for the swim platform? I just requested a sample kit to be mailed to me. When I looked to see what patterns they have available I didn't see any R series boats under the swim platform section. Did I understand you correctly that they have the R series swim platform templates?
