I enjoyed that thoroughly.

What a wonderfully awful place for us to share and feel better about ourselves. No matter how knowledgeable and adept we may be we will still make mistakes. Just facts when you take something heavy, shiny & expensive and throw and engine in it and put it in the water... or on a trailer... or near a garage... or in any kind of weather...

I only really did one stupid thing in 2017 and it was some other jackass's fault. Needed to gas up at a marina that's bizarrely set up in shallow water and at he back of marina, next to a bar, in the shape of an L. you have to swing by people gassing up and then kick it around and wait for your turn. People can do the turn because they're going to slow. I hate it. You have to be aggressive with the gas and quick on the wheel. Any way i had to get out of the way of someone that was just going to mash my patiently and correctly parked boat so I literally kicked the nose out into the water while this idiot barreled into where I had been parked. Have a stern line hooked so my boat just swings out as I stop the other boat. I go to secure my boat and my SB stern rocked underneath a metal dock and scraped the back corner up. I was so pissed. Most of it buffed out but I was salty for days.

Can't compare to some of "worst" happenings posted here as no boats were damaged during this episode. But, after buying our first new boat in April, we went to a close by lake during the week to get a feel mainly for launching and retrieving our new toy. After a few uneventful hours, we came back to the ramp and realized the wind had picked up considerably. It took several attempts just to get ahold of the mooring cleats before being blown away. Then Mrs. A tried to hold boat steady while I backed the trailer in then I pulled the boat out trying to approach the trailer while getting blown away. I finally started upwind then just as I went by, gunned it on the trailer. We were lucky to get it on with no scratches. This was definitely the worst condition we had encountered in 40 years of boating. Of course, we don't deal with what a lot of you guys deal with such as rising tides & Niagara Falls.

Funny thing was when we were driving home, Mrs. A said "that was a great day on the lake". How quickly we forget.
