Dog pics. Love them.
We had some bad news this past week. Our favorite pet of all time, our 14 year old female Yorkshire Terrior Gracie, that we’ve had the blessing to own has been diagnosed with cancer. I literally fell apart walking out of the vets office. I never saw that emotion coming, and it was a horrible day.
She has had this growth right next to her nose that we have removed twice over the last two years. The third time, it came back with a vengeance in a month. It’s spread to her one lymph node, but tests show no further spreading. After a full day of tests at a pet hospital in Orchard Park, the staff oncologist gave her 2 months untreated, but up to a possible year and a half with steroid and pill form chemotherapy.
At first, we were against putting her through any pain, but the Dr. said that small dogs deal very well with the chemo. So we thought it was worth a shot as long as her life quality isn’t affected.
I hope it goes well because I don’t want her miserable, or selfishly make her suffer just so we can prolong the inevitable. So far, she’s still her active loving self, and she’s still eating well. We haven’t noticed any difference in her at all.
This is a dog that fearlessly hops up on my straight piped Harley for a ride, and has to sit next to me while mowing the lawn, and it the most loving hugging dog we’ve ever had. She loves equipment and truck rides, and she’s a better retriever than my Golden ever was.
So hopefully, she’ll be around for awhile longer.
