276 upholstery

Post by Meyerld01 »

Hi, I am having a hard time replacing some of the upholstery in our new to us, 2013 276. The first issue is color matching. Looking at Cobalt brochures its obvious its a popular color but seems hard to match. Also for several of the cushions it is not at all obvious how to remove them as there is no obvious access to the underside. Any help on color match or removal would be appreciated.

Exact color match will be tough unless you know the exact manufacturer and color used. If you just want to be close, e.g., for a total redo, sites like this will usually send color swatches:

Thanks I have the build sheet and it states the color names but that did not help any as Cobalt no longer supplies it and their customer service was not much help.

I think your best bet is going to be giving a few upholstery shops in your area a call, or swing a seat or something by. They would have access to all kinds of brands and colors, that may not be the same brand vinyl your boat came with, but they may be able to match very closely. I've had pretty good luck with that process on a previous boat.

If you post the names of the colors, someone may be able to find the manufacturer.

Hi there. I have a 2003 Cobalt 262 that unfortunately has upholstery damage due to vandalism. I am looking for the manufacture of the white snake skin ( alligator skin) to match the original back rest. Also need the blue welting for it. I have been able to match the smooth white material for the cushions. Cobalt is unable to help

Any ideas where I might look to match this up?
Thank you

That is great info! How did you learn of this?

Do you think my 2007 240 also uses the Spradling Beluga vinyl?

A buddy of mine was having his redone and the guy doing the work knew exactly what product to use after seeing the seats. From my understanding, Beluga is an industry standard and all manufacturers of Marine vinyl will produce it. It's hard to understand and sad at the same time, that Cobalt does not have any information on these older boats. If I was one that did their upholstery work I would quit and open my own business specializing in reworking these older boats with emphasis on factory quality. It's very hard to find someone that can produce that kind of quality nowadays.
