Hey All! Looking for some insight from those who have spent time on either model as I consider moving up from my 2016 A28.
Overall thoughts on pros/cons?
You can look at the specs and see the difference in dimensions, but it does not look like (at least in pics) the 336 provides more seating. Where do you notice the extra space?
Any thoughts on ride quality between the two? Naturally would think 336 rides better with + 2,500lbs displacement, but there are differences in hull designs. I see deadrises are the same.
Anyone have experience with twin 6.2 300hp in the 302? Curious is that's enough as its the base pkg.
How usable is the cabin on the 336, and how long is the sofa?
Appreciate any thoughts!

Re: 302 vs 336 (from a 2016 A28)
I went from a 28' SeaRay single engine to a 323 (same hull and cockpit layout as 336) twin 496HO. Although i can't help much with the interior questions i can tell you that the difference in ride quality was substantial. With the twin engines and almost twice the weight there was a major difference in lateral stability as well as the ability to handle rough conditions (we boat at Lake of the Ozarks). As far as the actual cockpit area I would say that we have had as many as 10 people on board so far but as far as cockpit seating i feel like 8 people is a much more comfortable number. The huge swim deck and back lounger is awesome for coving out and swimming. Also keep in mind that the 336 is about 4' LOA longer than the 302 and also about a foot wider so there is going to be quite a bit more room in all areas. One foot wider over 35' is an additional 35 sqft of floor space which is a lot of valuable room on a boat. As far as the engines, much like the weight, there is no replacement for displacement! Eight people on the Searay and it would struggle to get on plane with a 454 mag 385hp engine. On the 323 with the 496HO's 425 hp each there is almost no difference between 8 people and 2 people. Twin 6.2 on the 302 i think would be pretty good though given the smaller size. On the 336 I would get the most HP you can find, you would not regret it!

We currently own a 2015 302 with twin VP 380’s. Endless power! Fantastic boat all around. Ironically enough we’re thinking of stepping up to a 336 or R35. Mainly for the small cabin and hardtop.

What did you decide? I too have an A28 and am thinking about upgrading to an R8 surf. Curious if you sold the A28?

Hi Craig, any luck with the boat search? I would be interested in your 302!craigjworkman wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 7:04 pm We currently own a 2015 302 with twin VP 380’s. Endless power!
