Swim Deck Stick on Pad - do they last?
Hello....I have 2019 220S....through my Cobalt Dealer purchased MarineMat brand peel and stick mat for swim deck with the "Cobalt" inscribed on the swim step mat. I live in MN so boat in water 3-4 months/year.....anyone know how long it should last before it starts to curl up as adhesive fails? If I decide to remove vs replace when it reaches end of life can all adhesive be removed looking back the way it was before installing?
Re: Swim Deck Stick on Pad - do they last?
Depends on where how boat is stored. I've seen some around our marina looking pretty bad after a couple of years sitting outdoors. On the other hand, others (like my boat) that are stored indoors and/or covered the matt still looks good after 8-10yrs. If you decide to remove it later you can, but it's a job. One thing to know, it gets hot! I keep a plastic pitcher out to rinse it when we are swimming etc.
Here is my original on my 2014 R5. Some marks from use, but still holding up fine, no pealing on edges.

I was able to get 7-8 years on ours before the dreading peeling. Not sure what the average is, going to have to replace ours soon

Thank you billk2632 for sharing photo....what brand is your mat? When you say storage I assume you mean off season and when in Marina its exposed to sun/weather? I am considering MarineMat brand....my Cobalt also stored indoor during winter months (I live in MN) and summer months (3 months) in a slip on the water with mooring cover. Upper deck covered but lower swim deck not covered.

My dealer actually talked me out of it, noting that they looked great but tended to peel up over time and require ongoing maintenance to keep stuck down to the swim platform. I went seagrass inside, so it would have just been the swim platform. No regrets not having it.

Mine is SeaDeck, installed when boat was new in 2014. No issues with pealing, but my boat is stored inside a dry storage building year round. Honestly if I had to do it over, I might leave it off, it looks nice and for me has held up, but it is terribly hot in the summer.MarkCB220S wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 10:19 am Thank you billk2632 for sharing photo....what brand is your mat?
