Fired her up tonight. Went well. Only issues are the low oil pressure alarm didn't sound when I turned the key on, and I have a miss on 1 cyl.

Going to do new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, module, and fuel filter to see what that does to help.

The alarm I need to look into.

Started installing the stereo and clamps for the tower speakers today as well.

Hopefully will have the towers finished tomorrow and amp rack installed.

Well, that was quick.

Took her out for the first time this year. Did a test run and was only getting 3800 RPM with a 21P prop in a short sprint. Engine temp was at 175* and oil pressure went from 40 to 30 at idle.

Did a hard accel test and lost performance. Oil pressure was at 20. Shut it down and open the hatch. Buddy says smoke is coming out.

You can hear the water boiling in the intake manifold. Smoke is coming out of the valve cover breather hoses.

Started diagnosing on the water. Removed hoses and could blow through all of them. Removed the sea water pump impeller and it's perfect.

Removed the thermostat housing and found this.

Oil pressure never came off the 0 after starting the engine again, so it's a total loss at this point.

If I didn't have friends with boats, I'd be REALLY upset. But at least we still get to go out and enjoy.

So far the seller of the engine has stated he will stand behind it and make it right. We'll see....

The Wet Sounds Syn 6 is working out quite nicely with the Rev 10 speakers on the tower.

Can really here the sound a good ways behind the boat, and even better is the off axis sound. Meaning the speakers don't need to be pointing right at you to hear them.

I opted to go with the swivel clamps which is a cool feature, but I am a bit concerned with the single bolt that locks them into place. I noticed a speaker was shaking a bit on the tower. The bolt had backed out a tiny bit which allowed it to move.

I like to remove my speakers because I store the boat on the trailer and don't trust people. Esp with them coming off with just 1 bolt.

I was doing some research prior to install and chose to use a little anti-seize to prevent the SS bolt from galling. I wonder if that is causing a problem?

Well...

Started removing parts from the boat in preparation of removing the used/damaged 7.4L engine.

So far seller is making it right.

What a bust for me this summer. :(

Hopefully a different shop than the one you have been using.

You’ve been waiting 10 months. We’ve been waiting 10 months. We want to hear all the sordid details of your 10 month (and counting !) repair shop experience. Is there light at the end of the tunnel?

Yes, different shop. The new place is the shop I was asked to drop the temp engine off at for repair the seller is paying for.

When I spoke to the engine builder last, he says we are waiting on an Isky billet cam core. They are said to be coming this month. We shall see.

I know aluminum cylinder heads were to be expected in Aug. according to Summit Racing, and they are now showing maybe NOV.?

So I hope it comes together soon. I lost the whole season and a lot of $$ trying to salvage it because of the engine being built taking so long.

My only regret is why couldn't I just be happy with the stock 502 I had? This whole dilemma stems from me wanting just a little bit more....
