Out of curiosity I called our marina today to check on fuel prices. $5.50/gal. Fortunately there’s a Casey’s 3 miles down the road I can top off at for $3.50.

A series of unfortunate events:

May 6th, I filled up my SUV, almost $120. Got to have it.
May 7th, I come home from work, I can't park in the garage. Wife bought a 5' round table for the breakfast nook. She had taken the 4' round out and put all the stuff in the dining room. I got a tape measure and showed here it wouldn't fit. (We argue of physical stuff all the time.)

May 8th, we wanted to go to lake to open the boat. She had taken Monday off work. I checked update weather and winds were 12 mph, it wasn't going to be as pretty as we had hoped. Due to condition of garage and house, cost of a fillup, we stayed home and replace the breakfast nook. The other table still in garage.

May 9th, she talked me into a day trip even though winds were still 12 mph.
Our mooring cover was almost green with pollen. I got out an extended brush wand that attaches to hose and started on left side (11 years of boating and I still forget star and port). I had to stand on the divider rail, with not much to hold onto. Finished that side, walkway side was going to be a breeze.

I stepped off railing, onto the wood decking we had put on the front of our lift, foot slipped. There was nothing to hold onto so I'm going into the lake. Because my left side was slipping, my right side pulled it in, twisting my whole left side. I immediately felt a numbness on left lower leg.
Marina employees put me on a cart, took me in wet jeans and shirt to my car, and we drove home to Campbell Clinic.
Fibula was broken requiring surgery. The put a splint on it. Followup visit on Wednesday revealed a torn ACL which they cannot brace due to splint. Hip and lower back also hurting, making crutches harder to us and more painful.

My only daughter is getting married May 21. My surgery is May 16. Hopefully I can limp down the isle.

And it all started with pain at the pump.

Oh that’s heartbreaking K114. Praying for a fast recovery and a wedding that is memorable. I know one thing. Your boating season is already one to remember as you’ll be telling that story to your family & friends for years to come. .

Thanks guys. Even more: daughter's wedding went smooth, even with me in wheelchair. I drove myself using crutches to get into car, transferring to wheelchair there. I drove myself home in heavy rain. When I got into garage, I got on good foot with crutches under arms. The first step was sideways so I could close car door. I didn't realize water had drained from car to garage floor. Left crutch slipped on wet floor, causing fall. Now my left elbow is in cast too. Thank God for a Proverb's 31 wife.
