Wife took the boat out solo with our son while I rode out on our friends Sea Ray with our daughter for some tubing with their kids. We all met up on the beach later.

Great day for all of us, especially as the tourist season is winding down. Number of pontoon rentals and jet ski rental kamikazes is steadily decreasing making for a little more relaxed atmosphere.

This era has to be the best looking Cobalt, just look at the lines. Hope its not the pinnacle of the brand.

We love our newer R series, but I won't argue that statement.

The annual float plane gathering is this weekend at the resort 1/2 mile from our home.

That’s really neat. Makes me want to buy a float plane, but not sure I can handle one of the only vehicles more expensive than a boat to keep up at the same time….

I’m a relatively new Cobalter and we get frequent compliments on the boat. People don’t believe it’s as old as it is and everyone loves that aft lounger layout. There are relatively few Cobalts in our area as a percentage of total boats so they stick out even more. You can’t throw a rock here without hitting a Sea Ray or Chapparral. Glad to be representing the group as one of the few, the proud, the salt water cobalters….

Beauty day and boat. Ever consider adding a windlass? Not sure how difficult that would be to do. That would probably be one feature near the top of my list if I had a closed bow boat

AND not a bad suggestion as another forum member did add this to his 260 series. We just don’t use our anchor that much so really no need to add one. …unless I get bullied into a larger fortress or box anchor.

We owned a 262 bowrider before this which was also a fantastic model. We loved the hull so much that we decided to jump to the 263 cuddy. This allowed the kids to get out of the wind and weather at times. We did love packing the kids on a bowrider though.

We owned a 262 bowrider before this which was also a fantastic model. We loved the hull so much that we decided to jump to the 263 cuddy. This allowed the kids to get out of the wind and weather at times. We did love packing the kids on a bowrider though.

We owned a 262 bowrider before this which was also a fantastic model. We loved the hull so much that we decided to jump to the 263 cuddy. This allowed the kids to get out of the wind and weather at times. We did love packing the kids on a bowrider though.

That makes sense regarding the cuddy. A big reason I like my 24SX so much is the head compartment is large enough that I can throw both kids and my wife in there during a rain shower. Though truthfully that almost never happens. It's I believe the largest head compartment they've ever had in a bowrider next to the A29. It has a bench seat that can fit two average sized adults snuggly and the Porta Potty slides completely out of way.

I'd be all about the A29 if I liked the lines of the boat better and it came with twins. Way too big of a boat for one screw IMO. I just really find the angular lines of the hull and hardtop kinda tacky. The R35 would be a great option if it weren't so damn big.

Perfect boat to me would be an R30 hull, dual engine package and A29 layout with the large head compartment.

Great points my friend...except none of those are legally trailerable (other than your 24SX).

Good point about trailering. As perfect as our marina setup is, I do occasionally think about getting a trailer and proper tow vehicle to take the old girl someplace new. Moosehead, Sebago and Champlain most especially. She has spent all her 16 years on Winnipesaukee.

But then I think about the cost involved. Do I really want to drop $50-60k on a full size truck or SUV (both vehicle types I have no need or desire to drive daily) to take the boat maybe 8 days a season somewhere else?

My mind tells me that money is better spent eventually on a newer and slightly larger Cobalt instead.

I thought your summer ended when Alabama kicked off season vs. Miami.
