My "new to me" '01 246 with a 7.4L big block has around 730 hours on it. We bought the boat at the end of last season knowing the power steering wasn't great. I had my mechanic check it out this spring before season and he changed the power steering pump and it has driven much better this season ...

Who has replaced the power steering cable on a 246? How is access and how difficult of a job is it?

I just purchased my first Cobalt, a 2001 246, 7.4 Merc, and absolutely love the layout. I have 3 questions:

1. The rod for the engine hatch prop seems too long by a couple of inches to prop it on the ledge behind the rear bench seat and will not tilt to prop it on the side of the engine hatch ledge ...
