Re: Guess my service Bill: “How Much”
Insane. That's like California pricing (ask me how I know).
It’s the same crazy service prices here in Naples as well. The MarineMax here charges $225/hr labor rate. An oil change with lower unit lube on a 300 Merc V8 outboard is $800 per engine and I have triples on mine. They don’t do my ...

Re: Cell booster or Starlink mini? No coverage in coves
I have Starlink on my boat in Naples FL and it works amazing, even when underway at 35mph in chop. As already mentioned, the mini runs off of 12 volts and has a built in modem. It’s super popular down here even on boats under 28’. It’s best to buy an adapter that steps up the voltage for more stable ...

Re: R5vs R8surf
The wave on the R6 and R8 Surf is certainly better with more forward push. That helps especially with beginner and intermediate surfers but I’m not sure it matters much for someone who is a proficient surfer. We have an R5 Surf that we bought new in 2018 and my adult kids and their friends have no ...

Re: Spring 2026 Photos
Spring is close for sure, I have started making a list of things we need to do to the boat prior to Memorial Day. Here is a picture from late last season. Helps me to remember that spending all the time and money on the boat is worth it when you get the lake to yourself on a night with a sunset ...

Spring 2026 Photos
Boating season for many is just a couple months away now so I thought I’d start a thread to post random pics. I’m in SW FL and yesterday I saw this and had to post it. It’s not everyday you see 3,000 hp hanging off the back.

Re: October 2025 Photos
Bum,
You are very fortunate to have a place with a dock. For the rest of us who would love a boat there, finding a spot to store is super expensive.
When we get the itch, we rent at that place on the other side of 41 from Tin City and head down to Marco to the Snook Inn.
We are super fortunate ...

Re: October 2025 Photos
Some pictures from this week with my new(to me) Whaler. My sister and nephews are visiting us in Naples for a long weekend and we had two super fun days out on the boat: one down to Marco Island on Friday and a run to Sanibel Island today which is 23 miles north of us.

Re: October 2025 Photos
Scout wasn't on my radar until recently, but it's pretty nice compared to the Robalo I have been on before and liked. If you want more of a yacht than a center console quasi-fishing boat, I was on a Tiara in that length range last year that was gorgeous too. Lots of neat options in the mid-30 foot ...

Re: October 2025 Photos
Beautiful!
We are back down in FL and have had our 23’ Whaler out a few times in the last week. Here one of our little Boston Whaler parked outside the Capri Fish House near Marco Island. It’s about 14 miles south of us and makes for a great lunch spot, the onion rings are fantastic.
That ...
