Draining the volvo engine block for winter
Hey all, I need to get my 1995 220 winterized. I am a DIY kind of person and would rather do it myself. I didn't have much time yesterday, but quickly looked for the block drains and could only locate 1 on each side, on the side. I look toward the rear and didn't see any. Shouldn't I expect to find ...

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Remembered there was a hydraulic place not far, went by there and was out with a new hose in 10 minutes. 23 bux vs 100 for factory! Came home put new hose and cooler on and topped off, ran it, topped off...seems to be holding steady. Rough job, but got er done and we made it to lake house dark ...

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Hey guys I got one local believe or not. It took and hour but I got old one off. In the process I noticed a drip from the crimped line going to the ram. Can I get something like that at auto parts store? Thought I had this whipped and got a new issue

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Well this really sucks. Busted my butt the last 2 weeks working on this thing to have it ready for this long weekend. Looks like there will be no boat for us this weekend. I don't think I am going to find one locally to replace. I been out with a flashlight trying to run down where it is, and it ...

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Ok yall....argghhh I got another problem I just realized. It was low on PS fluid so I topped it off yesterday. I just noticed on the ground the water is pinkish. Yep, checked ps fluid just now, almost gone. It appears to be running through the engine and spitting out on the ground. What would be ...

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Well boys and girls, I went home at lunch and checked under the dash and the tach did have options for 4, 6, and 8 cyl. It was set on 8 already. I did push the button and turn in and then put back on 8. I couldn't find tach laying around at home (have several from hotrod project) decided to get the ...

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Oh and some of you wanted to see my "new" ride. Here she is. 1995 220 with dual props, 5.8 FSI Volvo.
Overall nice shape, some cracks in the sunpad and bench seat, nowhere else. the guy had it vinyl wrapped, which will eventually come off. The COBALT decals were not put back on after he had it ...

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
I will take a look at the tach and may even grab one at the part store just to hook up and see what it says. I made another video yesterday after doing the work I did, this is after cleaning and with the throttle cable disconnected.

Re: Need help diagnosing a high idle
Hey, I guess a few more details would help huh. For some reason I thought I had posted my boat and pics before, but I see I have not. It is a 1995 220, with the 5.8. I bought it from a guy last month. He took to a service place and had them summerize and do an engine check, change oil, and even do a ...

Need help diagnosing a high idle
My (new to me) 5.8 EFI Volvo is idling high, around 1500 rpm, even after it is up to temp. Its a pretty smooth ide, not rough or jumping around.
I was thinking the IAC valve may be bad or previous owner may have adjusted the TB idle screw. It idles good, although high, and ran great on the water ...
