Re: 2002 293
You don't have closed cooling. That is not a problem, some folks prefer raw cooling for salt water. The dry storage marina is a very popular choice out this way for salt water, but obviously cost is a consideration. I think you found a very clean and well cared for fresh water boat with a good ...

Re: 2002 293
If you do not have closed cooling (you would see heat exchangers in the front of the motors) then salt water will of course be harder on the entire cooling system. You didn't mention if you plan in leaving it in the water. If no, many people do a fresh water flush after using the boat in salt. If ...

Re: Extended Swim Platforms
I just got a new quote and without shipping it was $2550 plus tax. (I go South in the winter and was going to pick it up. So, they can keep it. That is insane.

Re: 293 Steering at speed
Ah, no thank you all. I found an Ebay cooler for $45 and it did the trick. They make an aftermarket unit for $200+ but it's just a tiny heat exchanger. Also that motor had a starter that sound like it was bad, was told it was a motor pull and ring gear minimum. Nope, it was a loose then bent starter ...

Re: 293 Steering at speed
Just wanted to update that the power steering issue was the cooler, so easy fix. Once it gets here lol. I am told it's a common issue from sloppy winterizing.

Re: 293 Steering at speed
Meant to post but forgot, I have Volvo Penta duoprops not Bravo 3's. One power steering reservoir is eating fluid and when I added it foamed so air is getting in obviously. That may be affecting my steering feedback. Looks like ATF was being used previously, not proper steering fluid. How did I find ...

293 Steering at speed
Greetings. Got the 293 back in the water with quite a few fixes - one of which was the trim tabs - switch was replaced and previously one tab was not working at all - so stuck in one position. Now that they are working I am struggling with the steering "fine tuning" I will call it. When I get going ...

Re: 293 - Bow hook access
I did ! lol. I have a peek pic of them and I cut a hole and literally the bolts were one turn each from disaster. Fender washers, lock washers and nylon locking nuts in place. Once I cut the finish hole and inspection port is down I will post the results.

Re: 293 - Bow hook access
In closing of this exciting question, my 293 has two access points in the anchor locker, one at the extreme bow that goes nowhere and then one inspection port in the lower tight. Removing that port allowed me to get a picture of the back of the bow eye, the nuts are barely hanging on but there is no ...

Re: 293 - Bow hook access
Thanks I will poke around - no lights up there though. I checked the rode locker etc and it's down to pulling the windless or tearing apart the inside upholstery. I don't care to do either.

293 - Bow hook access
Hi, my bow hook (the D ring) is loose and I can't figure out how to get to the back side to tighten. I was guessing the plate behind the windless but wanted to ask before I start removing things. I don't see any way from inside the boat.
