Re: From 190 to 226, a true love story lol

Well, got a quick shake down run in, got 66mph GPS with a very full boat and decent head wind lol. I think I can get 67 outta her with better conditions and not 117*F ambient temps lol. All in all, super happy with these props! Better cruising speeds at every RPM so I’m stoked! Still sitting right ...

Re: From 190 to 226, a true love story lol

It looks like a MEFI 4 based on visual appearance, I’ll double check the PN’s this weekend. I got the F8’s installed and TQ’ed, pretty significant difference in prop size for sure comparing the F7’s to the F8’s. Pics on the water are from this last trip, last week. Heading out again on Sunday for ...

Re: From 190 to 226, a true love story lol

Dude, thanks for the Intel!!

Not that it needs to be the fastest boat, I know that’ll never be the case but boating where I do, has some of the fastest boats around lol. Being able to hit mid 60’s is nice and yeah, she surprised me with how quick she is as is.

I’ve got 2 trains of thought here ...

Re: From 190 to 226, a true love story lol

I’ve been running the boat for about year now on the F7’s. I’m primarily at sea level and with the F7’s hit the limiter. I see 64mph GPS, it has the 1.78 ratio for the drive.

My thoughts as of now are to throw the F8’s on her and see how she does. I’ll take the F7’s and send them to a prop shop in ...

Re: 2006 cobalt 226

Awesome boat man! I love my 226. Depending on prop setup and elevation she’s got a lot left in her to! I just ordered another set of props myself lol

Nice boat man and good choice! I’ve got a 01 226 and absolutely love it! Have you taken her out for the maiden voyage yet?

Well, I finally pulled the trigger on F8’s, should have them in by next week. I guess we’ll see how she does with them!

Re: Engine work

I’m stuck in an internal conflict lol. I’m a firm believer of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” but equally am a gear head.

I want to build something that’s reliable (which heads, cam and intake should be).

As mentioned I think something….just flat out different suits me well.

As far as the Jeep ...

Re: Engine work

Awesome!! Thanks for the input.

Like I said, I’m not looking to go crazy, just a little more power and yeah, something unique and a little different. I do think I saw something about the cranks, I think they were different castings as I can’t see them going forged from the factory. I had a lot of ...

Re: Why not add a Supercharger?

Resurrecting this!

I was looking at either a heads/Cam package for my 8.1Gi or maybe dipping into the SC route. I’m a big fan of the ProCharger centrifugal setups but I can’t find one for a Volvo setup. Next option would be a twin screw. Any of y’all endup going that route? Who can tune the Volvo ...

Re: Engine work

Thanks for the reply! It’s a Gi. I know there are some small differences between the GXi and the GI, one being camshaft.

The boat goes 62mph now and I hit the limiter, I need F8 props, the F7’s aren’t enough.

I’m guessing that the heads and cam package along with a retune, bump in compression and ...

Engine work

Ok, ok….I know many are going to say “JuSt LeAVe iT aLonE”

That’s not me lol. I’m a tinkerer and a gear head. I’ve built a few FAST cars in the past and cars aren’t really my gig anymore.

With that said, has anyone ever done some work to their Volvo Penta 8.1L set up?

I’ve been looking into ...

Re: From 190 to 226, a true love story lol

Anyone have or know where I can source a set of F8 props? I’m having a hell of a time finding somewhere with them in stock.

And to be honest, this chat is why I went the route I did lol
