Re: Outboard vs sterndrive

True, but look in the engine compartment of a salt water used inboard. Everything in there will exhibit corrosion sooner or later; fire ext and its base, battery trays, hose clamps, etc. Much less of an issue with outboards.

And the convenience of an inboard, in fresh water, is to me noticeable ...

Scam Alert

Seems I likely have been scammed by a person listed on this website, for a Cobalt cushion. I was referred to "sullivanborn2@gmail.com" who purportedly had a cushion for my R5, and provided a Zelle address of "Lifeisgoodparadise@gmail.com". Traded emails, picture of my cushion needed and sent funds ...

Re: Looking to buy R5-6-7. Opinions?

chose the R5 and am very happy with our R5; I like the smaller rounded helm look of the R5, not a fan of the newer big square looking helm. Our use is similar to yours, mostly the two of us, grand kids from time to time. Our lake is your typical TVA inland lake, so the R5 is entirely adequate, but ...

Re: R5 won’t trim up

my trim issue turned out to be a bad switch on the shift arm, worth checking as repair costs are small.

Trim Switch

Anyone replace their outdrive trim switch? My VP 350 R5 trim switch is excessively hard to operate; trim unit functions just fine, but it often takes two hands on the switch to get it to operate. Hoping to learn is that switch is replaceable, and if so, how hard or simple the job? Thanks for any ...

Re: R5 Snap In Carpet

Thanks, their sample does not have the walk-thru or the head pieces, so I've been hoping to find that in an existing template or in a lightly used condition. May not be available, but I'm looking! Merry Christmas.

Re: Holding Tank Size - R5

Nor have I, but I am under the impression the holding tank is 10 gallons. Where is your pump out access located? I have a new to me R5, and that is one thing I cannot find documented. Need to know to winterize properly. Thanks!
