Just a quick follow up to close this out!
I removed the top cover of the engine and noticed the shift actuator was indeed in the neutral (center) position so I removed the cotter pin holding the shift cable and noticed if moved freely forward and backward with no resistance. After pulling the boat ...

Re: 2019 Cobalt R5 Stuck in Reverse
Thanks for the support! I’ll post back when I find the issue and it is fixed!
I didn’t realize it would be a mechanical cable vs fly by wire electrical cable that controls a solenoid for shifting gears.

Hello Cobalt forum!
Did quite a bit of searching online and couldn’t find anything to help diagnose this issue I am facing. Hence the reason for creating a new thread.
Just attempted to take the boat out today (took it out a couple months ago and everything was fine). Engine started up great, but ...

Re: 2016 R7 stereo/battery/voltage issue! Help
Had this exact problem with cobalt r5. The dealer replaced ever single thing: head unit, harnes that plugs in from head unit to receiver, receiver. I learned that they typically replace the Rockford Fosgate Receiver PMX-8BB with refurbished ones that typically don’t resolve the issue either. After ...

Re: Considering a new R6
We bought an R5 without trim tabs and it handled the chop very well because of the deep hull and the weight of the boat (lake Washington can get pretty bad). We added trim tabs early last season and all I can say is that it is the best thing we ever did for an upgrade. Not only did it allow you to ...

Just following up here related to the hard reset issues. Took the boat into the dealership for service. They replaced the head unit and the issue was still present. They continued to diagnose and said there was a short in the wire that connects the head unit to the stereo remote next to the ...

Re: Stereo issues
I have the PMX-1R at my helm. I started researching to find why I can't get the zones to work. Then I go to Rockford Fosgate website and find none of the controls look like mine. Where I have a button for zones, the others have a "sun" emblem to control brightness...which I also have a problem ...

That is my current version I updated from their site. Nothing in their release notes talks about this issue.
It isn't that hard to update as it is via USB port where you would plug in your phone.

Intro from the PNW - 2019 Cobalt R5
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to give a quick introduction. My wife and I have recently picked up a “used” 2019 Cobalt R5. With the demand for boats lately (especially in Washington) We feel lucky to have found this! Picked the boat up about a month ago and it only had 20 hours on it. Ive lived in ...
