This boat is a brand new 2024. That is the incorrect sticker.

Re: 2024 Cobalt R4 - Low Hours
The sticker attached is for a 2026 boat yet the boat is a 2024?
My brother is looking for a new boat and this would be in his price range.

Re: R7 acting a little weird
The voltage reported by the Garmin is sent over the CAN bus so that voltage is the engine voltage. Would be interesting to see if the house battery is the one powering the Garmins but my bet would be that its the engine battery...would be easy to test that theory.

Not likely your batteries if you are able to actually start your engine. Sounds more like an intermittent power connection issue. Have a video of what happens?

Re: Lake Tahoe Cobalts
Preliminary report just came out regarding the boat that capsized with 8 people dead.
They WERE in Emerald Bay. If they has stayed there and waited out the storm they would be alive.

Re: Best batteries in 2025?
The X2 battery exclusively at Batteries Plus is supposed to be a great battery, it is the exact same battery as the Odyssey just in a different proprietary wrapper but the same battery. I was looking at both and found i could actually get a better price through West Marine on the Odyssey by ...

Re: Best batteries in 2025?
Odyssey. I have used them on boats, motorcycles and cars. I had one that finally gave up after close to 12 years that I used as a house battery on my pontoon boat. I switched temporarily to some Duracell AGMs but I will be going back to the odyssey after a 5 year Duracell just failed. 5 years isn't ...

Re: Fuel smell only when tank is full
I get the same on my 2017 R5. My guess it's that charcoal canister. I make sure I use the blower and its gone after driving the boat for a mile or so.

Re: Lake Tahoe Cobalts
Wow! I’ve always heard the buoy ones were because they don’t have enough line and the waves come over the bow because the boat can’t float high enough….I’m sure other stuff happened, broken lines etc. but that’s a surprising number. Is there a lot of cleanup going on, I assume? I have been up this ...

I need to get some of those. My Coast Guard Aux friend uses them all the time he goes out. He never leaves the dock without it on.Lifelongbtr wrote: Thu Jun 26, 2025 12:19 am Funny I have a few of the self inflating vests that are easy to wear, but I have a hard time trusting them….

Re: Lake Tahoe Cobalts
Sounds like a good plan to me. Do you have a VHF radio on your boat? That is another great tool for something like this, CG radioed prior to this storm (not sure how long before), but that could save lives, or avoid a bad day on the lake. I don't always have mine on but I will now. I also have ...

Re: Lake Tahoe Cobalts
I disagree vehemently that you should beach your boat without pointing the boat into the waves at a 20° to 30° angle beforehand away from shore. They would have been fine if they did that and were off shore.
A Chris-Craft Launch 27 (relatively low profile open bow) is ill-equipped for that ...

Re: Lake Tahoe Cobalts
They might have been too far away from a beach or Emerald Bay. And maybe the engine was swamped. But my comment was that in that sort of situation you should try to get to any sort of land despite the damage to your boat. You disagree with that?
All that said, the situation on the SW part of the ...
