Re: Continued Sof-Trac Issues

I have a new 2025 R35. In a covered marina, on a lift, with a boat cover and I have the same issue - but almost exclusively in the areas that get a lot of sun. Because of the big arch, the issues is really only in the back of the boat. It looks like it is shrinking and pulling away, just like the ...

Re: Continued Sof-Trac Issues

WOW! What brand does cobalt use? That definitely looks like a Quality issue from the MFG.

As for the sitting water, you should never have to worry about water sitting on the floor of your boat. I self installed sea deck 7 years ago and have had 0 problems. I only clean it twice a year. Dogs, kids ...

Re: Continued Sof-Trac Issues

It's a result of sitting water. Only real solution is to make sure water doesn't sit in the areas where it's swelling and curling up.

So this is happening during the season where there is very little rain other than maybe dew in the morning. But even if there is water from rain or dew...the ...

Continued Sof-Trac Issues

So I'm continuing to have issues with the Sof-Trac on my R4. For each of the 3 seasons I've had my R4, The Sof-Trac is becoming brittle and shrinking in a few places. It mostly happens in the front section of the boat.

To their credit, each season Cobalt has replaced the pads under warranty but I ...

Re: Swim Platform Hit the Outdrive and Props.

It's a really poor design and very easy to do unless you double / triple check each time the step is lowered.

Re: 2022 R4 VP 380 - Intermittent Reverse slight Clunk

I would have your dealer take a look. It should be silent going into forward or reverse 100% of the time

Totally agree with you! I did a check on the gear oil dip stick and it was NOT registering so much be low. The boat was serviced at the dealer in May before the season and the gear oil got ...

Re: Volvo Penta Silent Shift

Have this in my ‘22 R4 with VP380. It was silent going both into forward and reverse… But recently I started getting a small clunk going into reverse.

Not sure why that would be?

2022 R4 VP 380 - Intermittent Reverse slight Clunk

Hey All,

I’ve noticed this a few times I’ve used the boat…I know these new VP’s have that silent shift system where it’s supposed to go into gear silky soft.

95% of the time that is the case but there have been a few times recently pulling into the dock when I put the boat in reverse to stop ...

Re: Cobalt R4 Forward Bilge - Water

Totally agree. Super glad that i have it. I was more wondering where the bilge is located and how one would access it if ever need be?

"Is it normal to have water in the forward bilge but not the rear bilge?"

Yes. Just went through that.

It can be caused by rain water, leaky water hose, water ...

Re: R8 Helm Seat Squeak

I'm having the same problem on my '22 R4. I have asked dealer to fix but still an issue and will bring it up again when it is back after the season.

You will also see my post in R forum where my swivel was not working and realized it was NOT the swivel but a rivet. The strange thing is that we're ...

Re: R4 - Drivers Swivel Chair

Thanks!

I actually figure out that it is NOT the swivel that broke. There is a rivet that holds the pole of the chair to the based. That rivet broke so the chair is just spinning on the pole. I was also to get a replacement riven and will put it in when I'm back at the boat next week.

R4 - Drivers Swivel Chair

Hello All,

I sed my swivel chair today and not it will no longer lock in place. I can turn it in all direction and will no lock. The lever feel like it's working normally but just can't get it to lock.

Any ideas how to fix it or maybe broken?
