Re: 2015 R5 Transom Remote

Thanks for the thread link. I've seen a picture of an R5 surf with a remote back by the swim platform below the rear seat, but the 2016 or 17 and up (whenever they changed to the new style RF remotes) all have the transom remote in this location.

2015 R5 Transom Remote

I switched out the original RF helm remote and transom remote with the newer style PMX-1R. The transom remote won't clear the engine hatch vinyl. Does anyone know if Cobalt changed the thickness of the engine hatch vinyl to accommodate the knob on the PMX-1R? The old round flat transom remote won't ...

Re: 4in1 Gauge Replacement

Behind the dash, there is a round plastic retainer that holds the gauge snug to the dash. The stainless threaded studs sticking out of the gauge will have a small nut on them that secures the gauge to the retainer.

Thats just incredible. I wonder if any competitors are even close to this kind of setup.

Re: Mercury introduces a 600hp V12 Verado!

It's just crazy where this technology is going. We had a 39 Venture with twin Yamaha F350's for 11years. The rotating lower unit and two speed transmission are interesting to me. This is essentially a pod system like the Zeus. Pods were a new rage several years ago, but in the marine and offshore ...

Re: 2015 R5 with a VP 6.0 350

Ran the boat today, and hit 5,900-5,950 on the digital readout and what looked like just over 6,000 on the analog needle. I think there is almost 100 rpm difference between the digital readout and the needle. Hit right at or just above 52mph. 4 people and 2/3 fuel. 1.5' chop and about 10mph ...

Re: 2015 R5 with a VP 6.0 350

I was able to use the engine serial number to download the manual on the VP site. Looks like the WOT has a range of 5,600-6,000

Sounds good, thanks for the info. If it doesn't hit 6 then I will re confirm its the original prop.

Re: 2015 R5 with a VP 6.0 350

I think they are, but it's a boat... Dealership has a good reputation, and I know a few of their longtime customers. If I can't get close to 6,000, then I'll look at switching out props.

Re: 2015 R5 with a VP 6.0 350

PO ordered it new from this dealership. He's going thru a divorce and has to sell boat. Dealership has all the records and has done all the work on the boat. Props are original from the factory. Hopefully I'll be able to run it again next Saturday and the plugs sort it out.

Re: 2015 R5 with a VP 6.0 350

Test drove the boat today. Full tank of fuel and 3 people aboard. Power feels good for the boat, very responsive and plenty of low end torque. We did throw some error codes. (The boat only has 67 hours and is a 2015). It hasn't been run for a while, and the Volvo tech said they need to change the ...

Re: 2015 R5 with a VP 6.0 350

It would be interesting to me to see what difference, if any, there is between the 6.0 350 and the newer 5.3 350's. I've never been on an R5 with a 5.3 350, so I wont know, but looking forward to sea trialing the boat and seeing how the 6.0 feels. Thank you guys for your input.

Re: 2015 R5 with a VP 6.0 350

I'm not seeing a lot of R5's close to where I live (Texas), with 380's, except a Surf here and there. I don't want a Surf model.

The boat will be lift kept and no bottom paint. I think you're correct, fully loaded, it's probably a 45mph boat. I'm more concerned with low end and mid range torque ...
