Re: Should I buy a cobalt? Even an older one?

Eventually you will have to replace the interior in any boat. I replaced mine in my '98 202cs when it was about 15 years old. I replaced it exactly like original and the replacement interior is holding up really well, and the boat looks like new. It wasn't too expensive and not a big deal. I've kept ...

Re: Looking to buy a used Cobalt

I don't know much about the 190 because I have a rare Cobalt '98 inboard tournament ski boat (202cs). What I can say is that I've owned my boat since new and it has been a fabulous boat. The build quality is excellent, particularly the hull, and I believe my boat will last as long as I want it to ...

Re: Back With Another Possible Cobalt Purchase

Travis, I just logged on for the first time in a while and saw your message. I’m glad you bought the boat. Even with a bad engine you got a great deal, and it is worth putting money into it because nothing else is comparable quality. A Ski Nautique is the closest, but your boat will last forever ...

Re: Cobalt 202cs owner

My understanding is that the 202cs came with two different engines. Mine has the Pleasurecraft GT40, which is a 310 hp Ford 351. It has been a fabulous engine and the boat has tons of power. It will pull barefoot skiers with no problem, which I think is the ultimate test. That being said, it is not ...

Re: What I learned about wake last weekend

If I pass a surf boat coming the opposite direction in a river in my inboard 202CS, I pretty much have to stop. The waves are so steep with a short interval that I get pounded if I can't get more than about 100' away. I'll stop even if I'm pulling a skier.

Re: So who has owned a Cobalt boat the longest?

After reading this thread, I'm surprised that I may be in second place. I bought my '98 202CS new in '97. Never saw a reason to change. Went skiing yesterday. Here's a couple pics from a week ago.

Re: Cobalt 202cs owner

I found the listing on Craig's List and it looks like a very nice boat. I've never seen one offered for that much money, but given the price of new boats and the quality of this model in particular, I think it is worth every penny. It may become a classic, and it certainly is the most beautiful ...

Re: Cobalt 202cs owner

The first thing I would check is your transmission fluid level. Mine was leaking and when it got low it would slip. I changed the front seal and stopped the leaking, and it has been performing fine since then. Some people advised that once it slipped, then it would be damaged. I thought I would give ...
