It's hard to guess what a previous owner might have done, especially with all the things that can go wrong with even a well-maintained engine. Thanks for reporting back!

Re: JL Stereo System Install

@DockRocker

Old thread here, but firstly that is a clean install!

Second, I'm wondering if your JL Audio M6 IB sub caused any rattle in the console, hull, etc.

I've also got a 2008 Cobalt 222, and the only part of my sound system I have to complete is the sub. I'm back and forth between an ...

Re: Staining on swim platform

I've always had decent luck with 303 products - something like https://a.co/d/09oBHpZ4
I haven't used marine 31, but have also heard good things about their cleaner - https://marine31.com/marine-31-vinyl-cleaner-conditioner.html

and some people use Dawn mixed with a little vinegar or a little ...

Re: Complete cooling system hose kit for 5.7 GSI??

Not sure exactly what engine you have, but I've had the best luck using Marine Parts Europe for looking up the right Volvo part - see, for example: https://marinepartseurope.com/en/dealer/other/category/marine%20gasoline%20engines/product/5.7gsipefs/explodedview/54160371?catalog=7797478_G5G6A ...

I’m not a Mercury guy, but I’ve used this website for the occasional Mercury part with decent luck - https://www.marineengine.com/parts/merc ... u-0m024999

Someone on here (slideruleracer?) has a kit to help repair certain older seats like this. Let me look for a bit...

Re: Replacing water drain plugs for engine - 2014 R5

The Hardin marine ones almost appear to have concentric rings instead of threads. There must be some difference that's keeping them from going in, but it otherwise looks like an interesting option.

If you keep having damaged plastic plugs, I also wonder if some grease on the o-rings or not putting ...

Re: It's all about the bass...

The easy part is done - the speaker arrived today, and I can confirm it plays bass. I was a bit surprised they include some box tunings and Thiele-Small parameters for the speaker should you want to build or tune your own enclosure, but mine will be a more typical infinite baffle install. The ...

It's all about the bass...

When I installed Roswell R1 speakers, a JL amp, and a new Fusion head unit and remote in my boat, it turned out to be a bit of work assembling all the right pieces and installing it all. Now that it's done (custom replacement dash panel and all) and working, I'm getting an itch for some lower ...

Re: Stowing the ski pylon when not in use

What's the diameter? I suspect one could find some marine-friendly clamps that fit the pylon shaft for not too much money. I'm thinking this kind of thing:

Re: Diagnostic HELP: Engine lost power, a restart fixed it??

The idea is that the prop bushing grabbed the second time but slipped the first? Could be. The first part sure sounds like a spun propeller. I'd bring it to a prop shop to confirm before spending time and money chasing another answer.

Re: Vehicle to tow R8

You're looking at 6500lb for the boat, 80 gal of gas is another 500lb, plus figure a couple hundred pounds of stuff in the boat. Add 1500lb for a trailer, and you're at 8500-9000lb. It feels like 3/4 ton territory to me, and your mileage will be a lot better with a diesel. I'd also look at electric ...

Re: 204 R4 Premium Bimini Top Tips

Thanks for reporting back, Dennison. It may be worth noting that wet fabric typically stretches more than dry fabric, so if it isn't where you like it after a season or two it might be worth spraying it down and stretching it out to dry sometime.

Re: 2012 Cobalt 296 Radio Remote indash

Remotes are often specific to a certain generation of a manufacturer's radios, and most people who update or modernize the head unit end up updating the remote as well. I ordered a custom dash plate with a cutout for my new remote, but it looks like the compatible remote (likely RM-X11M) for your ...
