Re: Stainless steel rails around swim platform
Thanks all. FYI @Big Block Power -- I noticed the same bronze color (my small brain said more "orange") in the scratches. They did seem to sometimes be better or worse at different points. I'm also in saltwater when I boat, but it's stored in a rack between outings. I always chalked it up to rust ...

Re: Stainless steel rails around swim platform
Apologies, I posted the pictures like noob and now can't edit the last post. For some reason I can't get them to display inline, just as a link. Guess I'll have to get smart on posting pictures here.

All right folks, I went all-in to figure this out, and polished the stainless this weekend. I know you all enjoy details and pictures, so here you go...

Re: R5 in rough water
FWIW I have an R5 on the coast of RI, so we boat out from Pt Judith into the breakwater (which is more "lake like" in terms of wind chop, etc). Most of the time we then head south down the RI coast to the CT line, or sometimes out to Block Island which is 12 mi offshore. The R5 handles like a breeze ...

Re: Air pump
Shoot, that setup is exactly what I was hoping for. I don’t have a powered hatch, though, so I don’t have the terminals there. Will keep looking to see if i can find a convenient setup.

Re: Any tips for Docking an R5
It’s taken some practice for me with my new R5 as, to be honest, my only significant powerboat docking experience previously was a 12’ rhib dinghy, 30-40’ sailboats, and a submarine.

Re: Air pump
For the airhead with the alligator clips, where are you guys connecting it? I ended up purchasing it, but then couldn’t find any remote terminal connections. So, outside of directly connecting it to the battery (which is a pain), I can’t figure out a better solution.

Re: Stainless steel rails around swim platform
Yea I'm not a fabricator. That's Slides job on here. I'm sure you can wet sand then down then get like jewelers Rouge and start buffing. If you have a truck shop around you they sell them in blocks. You can buy small 3m buffing wheels too. Google works. I got mine from a stainless shop. Just haven ...

Stainless steel rails around swim platform
Does anyone know if the stainless rails around the swim platform are coated or uncovered stainless?
Also, anyone have experience getting scratches out / wet sanding them?
Boat was on a morning this weekend, and another mooring is set too close to it (and it has a swim dock tied to it). Current and ...

Re: Bluetooth source option gone on PMX-1R
Yeah this has happened to me. It doesn’t show up unless a device is connected/paired to the head unit.
Just pop open your phone and choose the Rockford unit under the new devices. Once it’s paired, the Bluetooth option will show as a source.

Re: Windlass - pay out reading anywhere?
I found a windlass payout reading on the Garmin, but it doesn’t do anything when I deploy or retrieve the anchor. I’ll have to keep digging to figure out how it gets info, as that would be huge.

12v outlet wiring diagram
Want to ask before I reach out to the dealer and have missed something stupid.
The 12v outlet on my new R5 seems to have stopped working. It’s located above the glove box on the port side, next to the USB plug. The 12v outlet doesn’t work, but the USB plug does work.
I can’t figure out why ...

Re: 2019 R5 Garmin Cockpit setup.
Congrats on the new R5! We took delivery on ours a few weeks ago and I'm still figuring out the Garmin Chartplotter! However, I think I can help you with the rudder indicator. On the map screen, determine which of the data fields in each corner you want to replace. Hold that space and it will ...

New R5 - 9 days straight!
Took delivery of my new R5 last Thursday, and we’ve been on it every day since! Keeping it in southern RI in rack storage, but we rented a house for the holiday week and took a dock within walking distance.
We spent 9 days straight on the boat since delivery. Picked it up with 1.1 hours. Now has ...

Re: Windlass - pay out reading anywhere?
Thanks for the info. I’ll look into these. I like the insert idea a lot... a little worried about anything tied to the chain. That doesn’t cause issues on the windlass?
