Re: Purchasing my 1st Cobalt and have a few questions.
I own a 1998 232 with 7.4 gi. The engineIs has 310hp. The thing to remember is torque. My pet peeve getting the boat on plane with tons of people and beer. With previous boats I’ve owned, I’ve had to get people to move up to the bow. Pretty embarrassing.

Re: Advice on replacing pedestals on a 1998 232
Thank you. I’m customizing my boat. Pedestals, new dash, new actuator, gel coat work next on agenda.

Anyone suggest replacement pedestal’s, brand or type that would replace the originals? The bolsters are in good condition.

Lower unit trim adjustment - how to
Short of calling my mechanic, my problem is trying to adjust the lower unit trim in the up position. After having some work done on the gimbal housing, the outdrive hits the stern of the boat, cracking the shift shaft cover at TDC. I find lots of advice on adjusting the trim gauge or replacing ...

Sharing Disastrous Moment
My 1998 232 7.4L Gi recently spent 2 months at my marina replacing transom housing. Expensive endeavor as you can well imagine. Launched boat at public boat launch yesterday. Wife and I cruised the shoreline but needed to get to our dock. Approached the dock and slipped it into neutral. Then forward ...

Re: Gauges for Cobalt 240
I do have pics of my old gauges except the compass. As you can see, they are in good condition and have the dark gray background. Will send pic of compass asap.

Re: Gauges for Cobalt 240
I have to get to my storage unit as i dont have a pic of the compass. The Ritchie sending unit needs repair. No one will fix it and there are no replacement parts. The gauge itself is fine.

Re: Gauges for Cobalt 240
I have spare gauges that I replaced on my ‘98 232. The trim gauge will fit your opening. The compass sending unit needs to have the wires re-soldered to the circuit board. The gauge itself works. I searched for 2 years for a compass. Paid dearly for one on eBay but it works wonderfully. The gauges ...

Re: Does anyone know where I can find this???
I bought 12 letters from Hagadone Marine in Coeur d’Alene ID 3 years ago or so. About $30 a letter. My used 1998 232 was damaged by the previous owner and no letters. Do not buy the eBay letter from the dude in Serbia. I had to get a refund.

Looking for Ritchie Compass 1998 Cobalt 232
Was hoping someone out there may have a compass module. Ritchie does not have parts or repair them anymore. There is a compass for sale on eBay for $500. A little bit out of my impulse item budget. Has anyone had the same problem? Has anyone bought an aftermarket bulkhead mount compass? Any thoughts ...

Re: 226 Wakeboard towers with bimini tops
I had the dealer install. He ordered it from Monster as there was no shipping charges. Saved some bucks but paid for the install. Make sure you reinforce the brackets in addition to the aluminum backer plate. It is not as strong as other types of towers. I bought it for looks and for the Bimini ...

Re: Ignition breaker size
Thank you. I think I’ll buy a 15 and a 20 and go with the 15. If it keeps popping, I’ll install the 20. Thank you all and good boating. BTW, I live near Sandpoint Idaho on Lake Pend Oreille. Thursday night, a huge storm came through. There was a boat that capsized with 10 people on board. One ...

Re: Ignition breaker size
Thanks for your response. Sorry if I wasn’t specific enough and I can’t get a pic right now. There are a series of breakers on each circuit located on the dash. They pop out if there is a short or overload. This one is located right above the key/ignition on the dashboard. The breaker pushes through ...
